Being the Best You

You are your only possibility of becoming yourself. You are also the only one holding you back from becoming yourself.

Author Richard Bach said, “Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they’re yours.” Most of us limit ourselves. These limits eventually become so comfortable we never experience the fullness of self that is our birthright. We hold onto fear, anger, shame, grudges, harsh feelings, and other negative emotions and let these emotions rule our lives.

Only by making a conscious decision to be all we can be can we hope to experience life in it fullest measure. Being all we can be includes enhancing our spiritual lives, realizing who we really are, making spiritual practices a part of our daily lives. It includes choosing to live in the moment rather than worrying about the future or obsessing about the past.

Many of us have also collected negative messages about ourselves throughout our lives. We unfortunately allow these negative messages to define us, to limit us, and to keep us rooted in the past. We need to bring these negative messages into our consciousness and release them by giving them back to the people who gave them to us

Being the best version of ourselves also includes removing our limitations by learning to deal with fear, anger, attachment, and other negative emotions. We are human, so we will experience the full range of human emotions. But it is not the fact that we experience these emotions that defines us, it is what we choose to do with them that lets us grow into the fullness of ourselves.

We owe it to ourselves and to God to be the best version of ourselves we can be.

May the God of love add a blessing to these humble words.
